Welcome to Horsehay Bowls Club
Horsehay Bowling Club has been part of the local community since at least 1917, bringing people together for over a century through the sport of crown green bowls. Based in the heart of Horsehay, Telford, our club offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all ages and abilities.
Our aim is to promote bowls as a fun, social, and accessible sport that supports physical wellbeing and community connection. We host regular club matches, league games, friendly competitions, and social events throughout the season. Our green and clubhouse are cared for by dedicated volunteers who take great pride in maintaining a high standard of facilities for everyone to enjoy.
The club has a strong group of long-standing members who help to keep its traditions alive, alongside new members who bring enthusiasm and fresh ideas. We are proud of our friendly atmosphere and the way our members look out for one another – it’s what makes Horsehay Bowling Club such an important part of the local area.
Looking to the future, we are excited to introduce a new junior competition next year, in line with the association’s focus on encouraging younger players. This will give local children and teenagers the chance to learn the game, build confidence, and develop new skills in a fun and supportive setting. We hope this initiative will help secure the future of the sport and bring a new generation into our club.
Beyond the green, our work is about much more than just bowls. The club provides a safe, social space where people can connect, stay active, and form lasting friendships. For many, it’s a vital part of their social life and wellbeing. We’re also proud to open our doors to local visitors and community groups, strengthening ties with the wider area.
Horsehay Bowling Club is run entirely by volunteers who give their time and energy to keep the club running smoothly — from maintaining the green to organising events and fundraising. Their commitment ensures that our club continues to thrive and serve as a welcoming place for everyone.
After more than 100 years, Horsehay Bowling Club remains a valued part of the community. We are proud of our history and excited about our future — especially as we look to involve more young people and continue to promote the many benefits of this great sport.
